The rise of social media has damaged the way that people see themselves and how they should aspire to look like.
This is especially harder for women, who are often bombarded by posts telling them what a perfect body looks like and what they need to do to achieve it.
Recently, a doctor from Nigeria advised the public to abstain from putting stock cubes into their anuses.
The user named @firstdoctorr, posted a thread on Twitter, which has since gone viral.

“Some of you insert stock cube as a suppository or mix it with water to form an enema then use a syringe to inject it into your anus.”
“Most stock cubes such as Maggi, contain salt, sugar, pepper, cloves, onion, corn starch, soya lecithin, caramel color, preservatives, palm oil, disodium inosinate and monosodium glutamate (MSG),” said the doctor.
“First, it doesn’t work. Iodized salt, monosodium glutamate and all other ingredients found in stock cubes do not increase the fat or muscle bulk in your backside in any way!”
“So it is a myth. Stop deceiving yourself!”
“Secondly, the high salt concentration in the stock cubes can cause cracks (excoriations) on the inner lining on your anus. A countless number of germs can seep through those cracks into your bloodstream and cause infections,” added the doctor.
“Please stop the dangerous practice of putting cooking products like Maggi or salt into your anus for any reason.”
Where did the trend come from?
According to reports, the trend is prevalent in African countries such as Congo and Nigeria, where women have been doing it for years.
In fact, VICE even made a documentary in 2018 which explored why Congolese women have resorted to this harmful practice.

Netizens all over the world were shocked
The doctor’s tweet has garnered plenty of attention and currently stands on over 2,000 likes and 1,200 retweets. People all over the world have expressed their shock and horror after learning about the practice, including Malaysians!
One user related it to the previous AstraZeneca hashtag #cucukMYAZ.
“Who is putting pati ayam in their a*s?” asked another user.
Another user joked that people are now able to choose what flavours they would like to be injected with. “Mine will be tomyam I guess,” they added.
