Many of us haven’t travelled overseas since the pandemic put a stop to all of our getaway holidays. A popular vacation destination for Malaysians when international travel was still allowed was Japan. But if you miss walking down the streets of Tokyo, look no further than this new pedestrian crossing at our very own Bukit Bintang!

Recently, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) took to their Facebook page to share the new changes that would be made to pedestrian crossings in Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan Bukit Bintang. However, netizen’s couldn’t help but point out how these crossings resembled the famous Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, Japan.

Another user said that since we can’t travel to the Shibuya crossing in Japan, this one in Bukit Bintang is acceptable.

According to the Facebook post by DBKL, it was said that the change was enforced to ensure the convenience and safety of pedestrians who use the roads regularly.

The city council also added that the changes to the crossing were made to allow pedestrians to cross the street in all directions simultaneously and optimize the time taken to cross the street.

What do you guys think about this?
