With a majority of the year being spent in lockdown, it’s no wonder that a lot of Malaysians decided to brush up on their cooking skills. In fact, there’s even a Facebook group called “Masak Apa Tak Jadi Hari Ini” dedicated to Malaysians sharing their cooking fails

Well, it seems like Malaysians really took their cooking seriously this year! Based on Google’s statistics, “recipes” was the top search for Malaysians in 2020. Our country also impressively beat out other nations like France and Japan to become the top country which Google searched the word.

In Malaysia, the recipe that became the most sought after one was none other than the beverage no one could stop talking about during the Movement Control Order, Dalgona Coffee!

As we all know, Malaysians are also extremely creative and we usually have this impulsive need to modify recipes thus putting Dalgona Milo in second place. Coming in third place is Biscoff Cheesecake which is probably why Malaysians were complaining that baking supplies were running out at an astonishing rate in stores.

The full list of the top ten recipes Malaysians Googled are as follow:

  1. Dalgona Coffee
  2. Dalgona Milo
  3. Biscoff Cheesecake
  4. Tornado Cake
  5. Jelita Marble Cake
  6. Youtiao
