Each year, the mesmerizing ‘parting sea’ phenomenon reveals a 400-meter raised sandbank, drawing thousands of tourists, both local and international, to the site.
Recently, a unique annual event has been attracting visitors to Pangkor Island. This extraordinary occurrence, shared by user @puantina on her TikTok, offers viewers a glimpse of the stunning phenomenon.
Tina reveals an alternative way to reach Pulau Giam other than walking. In the video, she explains that you can actually kayak through the ‘parting sea’ instead.
She then explained that kayaking to Pulau Giam costs only RM30 for an hour. She also added,
“When you arrive at the beach, keep an eye out for the ‘beach boys’ who can help you with renting a kayak.”
Tina then reassured that kayaking to Pulau Giam is quite safe since the beach waves aren’t too aggressive.
She pointed out how kayaking is a great alternative, requiring less energy and offering more comfort compared to walking, allowing you to admire the scenery and crystal-clear water along the way.
Tina stressed the importance of following instructions to return to the main island if the water level starts to rise, as it’s the safest course of action for everyone’s well-being.
She then suggests another activity upon reaching Pulau Giam, such as collecting stones, seashells, and even small crabs.
People quickly filled the comment section with excitement for the famous ‘parting sea’.
“I want to go, but the split sea phenomenon usually occurs during Chinese New Year, when it’s crowded with people.”
“I returned from Pangkor last week. Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to experience the parting sea phenomenon.”
“I’ve experienced it before. The parting sea phenomenon usually occurs once a year, typically in the month of February, if I remember correctly.”
