If you enjoy having a bit of sambal with all your meals, then you’ll really appreciate having the tastiest homemade Malaysian sambals in your kitchen. But what if you come across a homemade sambal that has always been a favourite of yours? It might look the same, but the taste might be different.
Netizens are fuming over a product that appears to be a duplicate of social media influencer Khairul Aming’s Sambal Nyet Berapi.
@madaninetwork_ shared on X, revealing a copycat brand after netizens observed that the packaging and stickers of the product being sold by the business owner seemed quite familiar.
The user also added some pictures of the product in the post, along with the link to purchase, which unfortunately doesn’t exist anymore.
Additionally, customers who bought the product got a card from the business owner, thanking them for supporting it.
What stirred up frustration among netizens was the marketing of the sambal as “Sambal Nyet Khairi” with a red label, closely resembling Khairul Aming’s product. The writing and overall appearance were quite similar to the influencer’s “Sambal Nyet Berapi.”
Some reviews even mentioned that buyers initially thought they were getting Khairul Aming’s sambal, only to discover it was just packaged to look like his.
“I was one of the victims. Initially, I thought it was Khairul Aming’s, but then I realised it was the copycat version.”
“I almost wanted to get that. When I added the product to the cart and wanted to check out, that’s when I realised the label said ‘Khairi.’ It’s a good thing I didn’t proceed with the purchase.”
“It doesn’t even taste good. I was one of the victims.”
Some people were hopeful that Khairul Aming would file a lawsuit against Sambal Nyet Khairi.
