A viral TikTok post by @bissbossbrtracing shows DBKL officers raiding and confiscating stalls at a Ramadhan Bazaar in Taman Wilayah, Selayang, and the vendors were NOT happy about it.

In the TikTok post, the person lamented the confusion of applying for permits to run a stall, saying,

“One person told us to apply here, and the other said we should apply there.”

Another vendor who felt oppressed was also heard shouting at the officers, “Why must you disturb the Malay vendors?”

In the meantime, other vendors tried to negotiate with the DBKL officers to return their canopies.

In another post, the same user responded to a netizen who claimed the vendors were playing victims, saying they had all applied for permits earlier.

The authorities, however, carried out their due diligence and confiscated their canopies.

“Malay vendors have to beg in their own land,” the post remarked.

The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of Malaysia, Dr. Zaliha Mustafa is well-informed of the matter and has since clarified that DBKL was merely carrying out their duties and they were NOT oppressing anyone.

“DBKL is happy to help, but only if you follow the rules”

In her TikTok post @drzalihamustafa, Dr. Zaliha said this year, all matters regarding permits for Ramadhan Bazaars in KL are managed solely by DBKL without help from third parties. This is to make sure all vendors can pay the affordable RM500 rental fee, and if all rules are followed, RM200 would be returned to the vendors.

Dr. Zaliha also said DBKL has given vendors the opportunity to apply for permits throughout the 40 available locations in KL and added that the authorities have no intention of causing inconveniences to anyone.

“We will only take action against those without permits, or those who set up stalls at prohibited areas.”

“We’re happy to help, but only if vendors follow the rules.”

The Minister also revealed that she spoke and mingled with the locals during her visit to the longest Ramadhan Bazaar in KL in Wangsa Maju, and said that many visitors are happy with how the Ramadhan Bazaars in KL are managed this year.

DBKL KENDALI BAZAR RAMADAN 2025, BERI PELUANG ADIL KEPADA PENIAGA Selepas mesyuarat di Parlimen, ambil kesempatan untuk singgah ke Bazar Ramadan Wangsa Maju, yang terkenal sebagai bazar terpanjang di Kuala Lumpur. Meriah! Tahniah DBKL kerana merealisasikannya! #DrZ #WilayahPersekutuanKita #MalaysiaMADANI #MADANIBekerja FB : https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BmtVyf9WX/?mibextid=wwXIfr X : https://x.com/drzalihamustafa/status/1896938367516119167?s=46&t=I2EmK_CrBk5stRVGWp0gZg
