Zombies have been the talk of the town recently, especially after the release of another South Korean series, All Of Us Are Dead which focuses on a group of students who fight for their survival following a zombie outbreak in their school.
While zombies have always been one of the sub-genre of horrors, one might wonder if a zombie outbreak is possible?
Recently, a netizen on Twitter voiced out the question that has been lingering in her mind (probably some of us too) and sought an answer from Dr Zulkifli Bakri, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
“I’ve been wondering for quite some time. If there’s a zombie outbreak in Malaysia and if a Muslim happens to become a zombie, will he/she mati syahid (die a martyr)?”
The netizen even assured the Minister that she is not joking and her curiosity is as real as it gets. In Islamic beliefs, mati syahid will grant the dead a definite entry to Heaven, but with a few conditions.
Dr Zulkifli has since responded to the question posed to him, but he did not provide a definite answer.
“You think too far, now I’m worried.”
The girl responded by thanking Dr Zulkifli for the reply, although he has not provided a straightforward answer to the question.
However, the girl is not the only one who has posed the question on social media. Apparently, there are many other people who have asked a similar question. This time, the question asked was slightly different.
“Are we allowed to kill someone if he/she is infected and turns into a zombie?”
Preacher, Ustaz Adnin simply replied,
“No, no one will become zombies. Stop daydreaming.”
