In the F&B business, it is hard to stand out. There is a huge amount of competitors (that often sell similar kinds of food) that are competing against other business owners for customers.
That is why it is crucial for business owners to put their name out there through unconventional means such as through games, funny uniforms for staff or simply by their amazing treatment of delivery riders.
Recently, a restaurant in Langkawi went viral on TikTok for its usage of sewing tables as their dining tables for customers.
In a video by TikTok user @rosiditalhad which has garnered over 2.2 million views, a man could be seen stepping on the paddle of the sewing table as he indulged in his food.
The restaurant has been identified as the ‘ROUTE 112 Langkawi – Combat Cafe’ in Langkawi, Kedah.
“I can make a shirt whilst eating!”
The video has amassed plenty of views and netizens were amused at the innovative use of sewing tables for diners.
“After finishing the meal (you’d also) finish sewing a baju kurung.”
A user commented, “If he had some cloth, he’d finish sewing a whole set.”
Meanwhile, some were reminiscent of our childhoods and how (most?) of us probably used such sewing tables in the past to pretend as if we were driving a car by stepping on the paddles.
“Who remembers when we were younger we’d drive cars by using this.”
Another stated, “When I was younger, I used to drift with this. So nostalgic.”

Kudos to the restaurant for their innovative approach to using vintage items such as sewing tables and implementing them into their business! Do you have any fond memories of such sewing tables?
