Fancy vehicle plate registration numbers are serious business in Malaysia and it’s not unusual for a special plate number to be more expensive than the vehicle it’s registered to.
For example, both the special “GOLD 1” and “FFF 1” plate numbers were purchased by His Majesty the King of Malaysia, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim for a staggering RM1.5 million and RM1.75 million, respectively, both the highest in history at the time.
A Porche 911 GT3 got upstaged by a Perodua Axia with a 1-digit plate number
With that in mind, a recent video involving a vehicle with a 1-digit plate number went viral on social media with over 534,000 views as of the time of writing, with many Malaysians amused by the sight.
Shared by @ferreromunch on TikTok, the video showed a Porsche 911 GT3 parked in front of the Pavilion in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur with a special 2-letter and 3-digit plate registration number.
However, as the video showcased the Porsche 911 GT3 and all its glories from various angles, the cameraman suddenly got distracted by a Perodua Axia driving beside the sports car.
The camera then focused on the Axia to highlight its special 3-letter 1-digit “AAH 4” plate number, which is allegedly more expensive than the Axia itself!
In a report by Berita Harian last year, the publication found that the price of a 1-digit plate number ranges from RM37,000 to a whopping RM2.5 million online.
All of a sudden, the video shifted focus to the Axia, which casually upstaged the Porsche 911 GT3 with its super expensive plate number.

Malaysians had a field day in the comments section
In the comments, many Malaysians shared their amusement at the sight, with many providing their theories about the Axia’s owner.
One commenter joked that the Axia owner probably had a Bentley lying around unused in their home.
Meanwhile, another said that even though the Porsche 911 GT3 is likely still more expensive than the Axia’s plate number, one can apply for a loan to purchase the sports car, but plate registration numbers require you to pay in cash.
Besides that, one commenter joked that maybe the owner had spent all their money buying the plate number, they only had enough cash to buy a Perodua Axia.
