You have all the right to spend your money the way you see fit. A Malaysian woman opted for a cheap lunch recently, but her boyfriend was not happy with how much she paid for the food.
In an anonymous dilemma shared by a Malaysian woman on Dcard, she spent around RM12 for a plate of mixed rice. Her partner, however, believed that she was not doing her best to save money for their marriage.
“Why did you take expensive dishes? Do you know how to be a girlfriend? Don’t take expensive dishes next time!” the man told his girlfriend.
The girlfriend, on the other hand, said that she took similar dishes as always, which were tofu, vegetables, and some chicken.
“My dishes have always been the same. But he kept nagging me as if I was spending on an expensive buffet. I was scolded for a plate of mixed rice, and I don’t feel good,” she expressed.
The tip of the iceberg?
Social media users, on the other hand, were baffled to see the fate of the woman who couldn’t enjoy her meal, and many feared for her future when she had not even tied the knot with the man.
“He is so calculative even before you both get married. I can’t imagine what the future holds.”
“If he’s hell-bent on saving money, does that mean you both can’t dine in at restaurants after you get married?”
“This is so irrelevant. He should’ve complained about the prices of the food, not you. I suggest you to think clearly before getting married to him.”
“You shouldn’t save up for marriage; you should fight for it. If he’s that poor, might as well don’t get married.”
“One piece of advice for you – break it off.”
“It’s good to save money but he could’ve phrased his words better, or else it’ll be tough for you both to make it in the future.”
