While Deepavali is known for being a time of joy and happiness, many also take the opportunity to remember loved ones that have come before them.
One Singaporean woman in particular, whose name is Ananthi Naidu, went the extra mile in commemorating the memory of a particular group of furry friends. Taking to TikTok via her account @ananthinaidu, the dog lover revealed an altar she set up specifically for her pet dogs that have passed away.
Alongside framed photos of each dog, Ananthi also added a flower garland for each image and surrounded the table with various pup items. This included dog kibble, animal jerky, chicken, eggs, a soft toy and flowers, among other things.
Lighting a candle in their memory, Ananthi also zoomed in on each dog’s photo for the TikTok video.
Altogether, Ananthi lifted up more than 20 dogs in prayer for the festivities. She also detailed that all of the dogs whose images were on the altar were dogs she had rescued in the past.
Sharing in the special moment, many people expressed how touched they were by Ananthi’s efforts, with some saying that the display brought them to tears.
One expressed their hope that the food on the table would not go to waste, to which the animal lover herself revealed that she had shared the items with stray animals later that same night.
