It’s no secret that everybody loves money. And if you don’t have it, you definitely want to be around the people who have an abundance of it.
So when a 21-year-old man from Kelantan won RM1 million from a BSN lucky draw, it’s no surprise that netizens suddenly appeared claiming to be the “relatives and exes” of the lucky individual. On 6 March, Harian Metro reported that a man became the youngest winner of BSN’s Sijil Premium Special Draw 2021.
The special annual lucky draw, from which individuals can win up to RM1 million, has been going on since it started in 2014.
Following this announcement, many Facebook users hilariously took to the comments section of the post to commend the lucky young man and claimed to be related to him, possibly in an attempt to cash in on some of that prize money!
Some netizens professed to be women that the young man tried to win over but failed:
- “Forgive me for rejecting you earlier for our age difference. Can you take me back? We can start again from the beginning.”
- “Thank God. You can now propose to me. We promised from when we were still in our mother’s bellies right? It’s not good to break promises babe.”
Others claimed to be long-lost siblings of the winner who coincidentally only found out about his existence after he was RM1 million richer:
- “Thank God..my youngest sibling…separated since birth…finally we meet again…thank you BSN!”
- “Thank you BSN for this initiative…I have found my brother after being separated for such a long time…brother…I have never scolded you…please forgive me for all my past sins.”
- Thank you Harian Metro for bringing back my brother to me who has been lost since he was just a small child. May you continue to prosper. To my youngest brother, Roslan, take my phone number 019xxxxxxxx…come back to me brother!”
What’s amusing about the post is that the winner’s name and photo were omitted from the article for security reasons, which brings to question how these “ex-lovers and relatives” knew about his existence.
Jokes aside, we really hope this young man isn’t fooled into thinking he has so many relatives and people that he owes money to! Have you ever experienced “relatives” claiming to know you for money and fame? Share your experiences with us in the comments!
