It’s the season of jolly, and it’s the time of celebration with your loved ones. Christmas is not just about decorations and dinner, but also about spending time with the right bunch of people. But, does it matter where you choose to celebrate it?
As for this Malaysian woman, she did NOT have the time of her life on Christmas night as her partner decided to bring her to Malaysians’ favorite spot – the Mamak restaurant. In an anonymous confession post shared by the Facebook page MY (Malaysia), the woman said that she noticed her friends were all celebrating the festive night at fine-dining restaurants and high-class places.
“And there I was, having dinner at Mamak restaurant in my pajamas, and we’re having Roti Canai and hot tea,” she said.
She then rhetorically asked, “Shouldn’t we celebrate this special occasion?”
She made it clear that it was not necessary for her partner to bring her to fine-dining restaurants, but at least a walk in the shopping mall is more than enough.
If you’re wondering why Mamak restaurant became her partner’s choice, he has simple reasons for it.
The girl revealed that the crowd at fine-dining restaurants and traffic on the road were the primary reasons why her partner chose to just spend the “magical” night in a Mamak restaurant. However, she was not fond of his reasons.
“At least invite our friends to celebrate the night at our house. It’s much better than wearing slippers and spending Christmas night at the Mamak restaurant,” she explained.
“Ho, ho, ho, suprise!”
To make up for the disappointment, her partner said that there was a surprise waiting at home for her. Did the surprise make things any better?
Not exactly. The surprise left her speechless.
“He got me Santa Claus’ attire!”
The girl ended her post by saying that she is considering leaving the man.

“Just because of that?”
Her confession post gained much criticisms online, with many highlighting that relationships should not be determined by the presence of celebrations.
“Would you end this relationship just because of the lack of Christmas celebration? Are relationships nowadays that weak and vulnerable? I don’t think your relationship is that serious.”
“If you’re with the right person, every day is a celebration, even if you’re having salted fish and vegetables. It looks like you’re with him just for festive seasons celebrations, and not to be with you your entire life.”
“Breaking up for not celebrating Christmas? I’ve been married a few decades, we don’t even celebrate birthdays and anniversaries, does that mean we should’ve ended our marriage a long time ago? Celebrations are not important, what matters is if he is there with you all the time.”
Fellow Malaysians, do you think spending Christmas night at the Mamak restaurant spoils the mood? Where did you celebrate the festive night?
