Some of the most vulnerable creatures on planet Earth are strays who have no place to call home. Often left exposed to the elements and nature, these circumstances may even put them directly in the line of fire to face potential danger. However, one girl who saw such a situation with her own eyes, decided to intervene and possibly change the entire course of life for a few cats.
A Malaysian video creator who goes by Teha recently shared an instance which took place while she was walking to her bus stop after university classes. Discovering a sound of meows emanating from a deep drain, Teha realised that a mother cat and her two kittens were stranded there, with water levels rising and rushing due to the rainy weather.
Capturing the moment and sharing it to her TikTok page @tehania_, Teha documented the series of events which led her to rescue this mother cat and her kittens.
After coming across the cat, Teha realised that the mother was meowing to attract potential human beings to rescue her kittens, who were deserted at a part of the drain where water gushed forcefully. Managing to get the attention of two men nearby, the strangers stepped into the drain themselves to save the two kittens and their mother cat, before placing them on the side of the street.
Due to the hectic situation, Teha soon realised that the mother cat had escaped, leaving her two kittens behind and in her care.
Choosing to care for the kittens momentarily, Teha called one of her friends, who had not gone home after their class and asked for help. The friend then went out of her way to purchase a packet of cat food for the kittens to share.
“They were shaking! We don’t know how long they spent in the drain. We played with them for a while and thought about where they’d place them or even if we should take them home. Their mother had run away,” wrote Teha in a caption across the video.
After waiting for about two hours and missing two buses to take her home in the process, Teha continued to wait, in hopes that they’d find some form of resolution soon.
Thankfully, a joyful reunion took place soon after, when Teha’s friend, who purchased the cat food and subsequently left, thought she saw the kittens’ mother at a shop lot near their location. Attempting to give it a shot, Teha brought the kittens to the grown cat to see if she was really their mother – and luckily, she was.
“Their home was located behind one of the stores. So she took them there. After that, we went home. We got on the bus at 4pm but only reached home at 7.21pm. It’s okay. To save the life of a cat, it was worth it!” wrote Teha in the final caption of her post.
Receiving immense praise for her noble actions, many people flooded the comments section to applaud Teha and her friends for saving the mother cat and her two kittens, even though it was raining heavily and they were in potential harm by going through the rocky and unstable drain.
“God sent good people to help them. May everything you do from now on be returned to you with goodness,” commented one user.
