How many of you still save your money in a piggy bank? Well, after watching this video, you might want to find a more secure place to store all your savings.
In a Sarawakian local group on Facebook, a man shared a video about how an uncle was sifting through his cash with the help of a few other people. Normally, this would be a happy occasion as the man would be able to enjoy his savings, but termites got to them.

One netizen suggested that people store their cash the OG way, which is to put it in a roti can. Thing is, a roti can does not store roti, they store biscuits. But that’s just semantics.

Another netizen said that the termites are real smart (has real knowledge) as they ate most of the big-value bills (big picture) 50s and 100s. But that coincidence might just be the termites’ instinct though, as the smaller bills are more plastic than paper!

Other netizens asked for the uncle to go to Bank Negara and exchange the bills. Yes, you can actually do so!
According to this PDF file by Bank Negara, there are definitely some things to take note of:
- Value shall be given to any torn, burnt and termite-infested banknotes subject to the
following conditions:
• Full value shall be awarded to any piece of banknote which is more than two-thirds
(2/3) in size of the original banknote
• Half value shall be awarded to any piece of banknote which is more than half (1/2)
but less than two-thirds (2/3) in size of the original banknote
• No value shall be awarded to any piece of banknote which is less than half (1/2) in
size of the original banknote
