Educating our young generations and laying the path for them to achieve their aspirations, teachers are without a doubt the unsung heroes of our country.
The profession is not without its challenges, one of which is to be able to connect with the students and motivate them to study hard.
Well, one teacher has a rather unconventional way of doing so, which is by utilising his love for automotive.
Going viral on TikTok, the teacher, 30-year-old Mohd Rafaik Ishak from Terengganu has been using his sports car collection to create a bond with his students and motivate them to study hard for exams.
In one video, the teacher can be seen bringing his purple Nissan Skyline R34 to school and letting his students inspect it up close, even checking its engine by lifting the bonnet.
In the caption of the video, Rafaik shared that the students, most of them boys, have been asking for him to bring the car to school to let them check it out and on that particular day, he obliged.
Furthermore, the teacher also shared that in order to motivate his students to study hard, he promised to bring those that aced an upcoming science exam around Kuala Lumpur with the car.
The video has since gone viral, garnering over 1.2 million views and more than 123,000 likes as of the time of writing. You can watch the video here:
Meanwhile, in another video with over 800,000 views on his TikTok account, Rafaik can be seen letting his students play around with his red Toyota MR2, to the excitement of the kids.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Rafaik shared that he’s a huge fan of Japan Domestic Market (JDM) cars and besides the two cars above, had also previously owned a green Nissan Skyline R35.
He added that he frequently drives his sports cars to school to pique his students’ interest and motivate them to study hard.
The teacher also lets his students experience the vehicles up close, such as letting them explore certain parts of the cars, their engines and inner workings, as well as a first-hand experience of being inside.
Rafaik shared,
“I drive these cars to school on certain days to provide moral support to my students so that they would study hard to achieve the goals that they are dreaming of.”
