A popular Malaysian singer, 46-year-old Mow Yee Hsian, has sadly passed away on Thursday (7 January) after battling cancer for more than 4 years. Thankfully, she managed to fulfil her wish of winning the junior group championship of 好声Family (Family Singing Show) with her young daughter last year, before her passing.
According to a report by China Press, Mow was known for her love of singing and had won numerous singing competitions, both in Malaysia and abroad. While her participation with her 8-year-old daughter in the Family Singing Show was her last, it became the most meaningful performance of her life.
Despite being shuttled between the hospital and her home due to her cancer treatments, with Mow being unable to hide her emotions as her vocal cords were being affected by radiotherapy, she was happy to be able to compete and win the competition with her daughter.
Having been diagnosed with late-stage colorectal cancer, Mow tried not to give in to the disease and received treatment to control her condition. Unfortunately, the cancer cells metastasised to other parts of her body.
A tribute by her husband
Mow’s husband, who is also a popular singer, 轻松 · 咸渔哥Masinman 8687, took to his Facebook page to share the saddening news of his wife’s passing.
He wrote, “Dear 8687 family, it is with a heavy heart that I inform you that our beloved Mow Yee Hsian passed away peacefully last night.”
“Thank you for the companionship and love you gave us throughout your life. Now, she has been freed from suffering, her life is complete, and she has been reborn in the pure land of ultimate bliss. May Mow Yee Hsian rest in peace, transform into gentle light and live forever in our hearts.”
