A 29-year-old Malaysian man, Abdul Hamid Mohd Taufek, tragically passed away just weeks before his wedding after he was stung by wasps while cleaning his house in Hulu Langat, Selangor, in preparation for his upcoming nuptials.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the man’s friend, 36-year-old Khairul Affendi Rahim, explained that he passed away while receiving emergency treatment at a health clinic on 30 December 2025, the same day he was stung by wasps.

Khairul said that before the incident, Abdul Hamid performed congregational Zuhur prayers at the surau before returning home. While cleaning the house, Abdul Hamid was stung by wasps when opening the air conditioning compressor unit outside.

“Shortly after being stung, he rushed to a neighbour’s house and informed them of the incident. It is understood that Abdul Hamid fainted a few minutes later and was taken to the Batu 14 Health Clinic for further treatment,” Khairul stated.

At the health clinic, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) was performed on Abdul Hamid for about 30 minutes before he was pronounced dead.

While cleaning his house, Abdul Hamid opened the air conditioning compressor unit outside his house as he was waiting for a technician to arrive for servicing.

“An inspection at his house found that there was a wasp nest in the air conditioning compressor component. We believe he was attacked by the wasps in the nest,” stated Khairul.

“Until now, we are still waiting for the results of the autopsy to determine the cause of Abdul Hamid’s death. However, it is understood that pre-existing sinus issues and allergies to seafood may have aggravated his allergic reaction to the wasp venom,” he added.

Our sincerest condolences to Abdul Hamid’s family and loved ones.
