A Malaysian recently took to the Chinese social media site Xiaohongshu to express their shock at an encounter they had with an ‘uncle’ at the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) office at UTC Pudu Sentral in Kuala Lumpur.
This is because the man was there to sell queue numbers that he had grabbed online to people visiting the immigration office for a whopping RM50 each!
An uncle running a “queue number grabbing” business at UTC Pudu
In the post, the individual shared that they were working at UTC Pudu Sentral for a few days and had noticed the uncle always being at the immigration office every day that they were there.
Curious about what immigration-related matters the uncle had to do that he was there for multiple days in a row, the original poster then approached the uncle and asked him.
To the original poster’s surprise, the uncle revealed that he was there not for any immigration-related matters but instead to do a “queue number grabbing” business with visitors of the immigration office.
The uncle grabs queue numbers online every day and sells them to visitors for RM50 each! ?
In case you’re not familiar, the Immigration Department now no longer provides physical queue numbers for visitors as everything is done online through the Queue Management System (QMS) on the department’s mobile app.
The uncle elaborated that every day, he would use multiple smartphones to grab queue numbers on the mobile app and sell them to visitors, especially those unfamiliar with the online queue system.
Furthermore, the uncle asserted that he sells the queue numbers for a whopping RM50 each every day.
Well, let’s hope that the authorities take action against this scalper and other individuals doing something similar soon.
