With most flights in and out of affected countries being cancelled or proactively removed following the rise of infection and transmission of the COVID-19 (coronavirus), one netizen took it upon himself to share how you can salvage the cash that you’ve spent on your cancelled flight.
Taking to Twitter, Awin shared his experience via his tweet handle @TravelJimat on how he requested refunds for his flights to Hong Kong and Jeju, South Korea.
He began his request for a refund following the cancellation and rescheduling of his AirAsia flights to the above-mentioned destinations.
He mentions in his thread that AirAsia gave the option to either change the date or request credit account to purchase another trip within 30 days or get a full refund.
Choosing to get a full refund, here is the process that he had to go through.
To recap his journey, in his thread he mentions the steps that he went through to get his refund by providing a checklist which began with:
- Begin a chat with AVA
- From the list of options, choose REFUND
- Choose AIR ASIA NEW REFUND REQUEST
- Choose FLIGHT CANCELLATION REFUND
- Choose YES
- Enter your booking number as found in your Flight Itinerary (six characters)
- Enter your last name/surname/family name according to your booking
At the end of his Tweet, Awin shared that the seventh step as one of the things that you should not miss or risk being responded with a booking error notification.
