There are many horror stories about people encountering dishonest e-hailing drivers and normally, they target women.
Joanne Thong, 28 who is a frequent e-hailing ride user has shared some tips for women when they feel unsafe in the car.
“When you get into the e-hailing ride, it’s best to sit right behind the driver so it’s harder for them to reach you.”
“Open and close the door twice, in incase the child lock is on, meaning the door can only be opened from outside.”
Other netizens have shared their own tips as well.
One netizen will make sure that she uses a handbag with long straps when she needs to use e-hailing services.
While others said that it would be best to send your live location to a family member or a trusted friend or just call them!
A male netizen added that the tips are useful to men as well, as they are also susceptible to being robbed on e-hailing rides.
“The biggest tip is to not fall asleep during the trip!”
Even though these dishonest drivers are only a small minority in a big pool, it’s best that we protect ourselves just in case anything unfortunate happens.
Joanne told WORLD OF BUZZ,
“While it’s important that we take every precautionary steps to stay safe as women, I do hope someday we can stop living in fear just to stay safe.”
