Travelling is such a wonderful opportunity and being able to travel on an affordable budget makes it all the more accessible. Just ponder this point for a moment: if you spend less on one adventure, you’ll have some left over to spend on another!

Budget travel doesn’t have to be any less fun either. Just like this Malaysian, Nurul Hidayah who shared on Facebook her experience of travelling to Thailand by car and holidaying in Krabi for 3 days and 2 nights for less than RM1,000! Here’s how she did it.

Barring the Longtail Boat trip they took, here is what a travel budget of RM1,000 would look like.

“Here is my trip to Krabi, Thailand, in a car that we drove ourselves with no tour guide.”

“It took us five hours to travel from the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah to Krabi, Thailand.”

“Upon our arrival, we checked in at the Dusit Aonang Beach Hotel, which to us was reasonably priced and is located nearby several Halal restaurant options.”

“On our second day, we booked an island trip which visited four islands. We did splurge on a Longtail Boat trip, which costs us almost RM800+ for four people.”

“We had dinner later…the food was superb. We also visited the Krabi night market.”

Ending their third day with a spot of souvenir shopping, the netizen mentioned that they did not have enough time to stop in Hat Yai.

“Overall, we spent RM300+ for our hotel, RM100+ for fuel, RM289 for insurance and RM25/person for SIM cards. Excluding the boat ride and island hopping, we spent less than RM1,000, and it’s way cheaper than flying to Krabi, Thailand.”
