On 22 February, a Facebook user named Tan Yeow Boon published a post about a recent robbery case in his residential area at Taman Istimewa, Johor Bahru.
The user, who wishes to keep the victim’s identity anonymous, stated that he was awakened by sounds of a woman’s yelling and a dog barking at around 5.35am before dawn. He immediately got up and opened the door to see what was happening. He then saw a widow who stays diagonally opposite his house and was waving to him, saying that there was a pencuri (thief).
Tan then took a huge cane for self-defence as well as his dog to watch out for what was happening in her house.
He wrote,
“The thief broke into her house, and even had the intention to rape her. When she resisted, the thief attempted to stunt her with ironware.”
“Her little daughter who was sleeping next to her room was awakened by his actions. The thief was frightened and ran away when the widow and her daughter started to scream loudly.”
Tan then went over and called the police for her. After waiting for 15 minutes, the police arrived and asked her to go to the police station to make a report. He then left the premises with authorities.
Tan also mentioned that the widow described the thief as a short Burmese man.
Hopefully, the thief is arrested as soon as possible. In the meantime, please be careful everyone!
