Many of us people from younger generations probably find it hard to commit to a partner.
Thanks to advancement in technology, we use ‘dating’ apps such as Tinder, Paktor, Grindr, or even sugar daddy dating apps, which have helped promote hook-up culture instead of making genuine connections with people.
Hence, loving and committing to someone has become quite difficult for this generation.
Well, let us take a little love advice from Mr. Kuah, a Grab Car driver with an OKU sticker on his car.
One day, his passenger, Halina Zaini noticed the OKU sticker on his car and decided to ask Kuah about it. She wrote in an Instagram post,
“It all started when I asked him if he didn’t mind me asking, why was there an OKU sticker on his car. He said it was because of his wife.”
“His wife uses the car sometimes. She has a heart disease and hence, she can’t walk far. It is also because she has distorted hips.”
The story seemed nice enough at that point but Kuah’s explanation will truly melt anyone’s heart. He told Halina,
“I met my wife when she was 26 years old. She was very beautiful and slim. But when she turned 27, she was diagnosed with a heart disease.”
“The doctor told me that with her heart condition, she will only have probably 1 or 2 years maximum to live. But she made it to another 20 years!”
“You know why? Because I told her the biggest lie – that she was just unfit.”
Usually, at this rate some people might choose to leave and spare themselves the heartbreak later on. However, Kuah held on to the love of his life and took care of her.
“I didn’t want the news (of her heart problem) to disturb her, so I told the doctor to tell me all of the news regarding her heart to me, and to me only.”
“It was a struggle, I admit, with all my friends asking me why should I stay, why burden myself with this person?”
“I told them how can I leave someone I love, how can I do that? I didn’t fall in love with her beauty, I fell in love with her heart.”
Of course, Kuah wasn’t always a Grab Car driver, he had a career before he left his job some time ago just for the missus.
“I almost lost her three years ago. So, I quit my job to do this (Grab) so that I have more flexible timing to take care of her. She’s happy now and these days she is okay.”
“We can’t have any children but it’s okay. My responsibility lies in taking care of her and she to me, and we are fine with it.”
Well, anyone can see the amount of love this man has for his dear wife. Many people these days take our loved ones for granted. When was the last time you showed your appreciation to them?
