Panic-buying is happening all over Malaysia and it doesn’t seem to be stopping soon even after our prime minister has assured us that we have enough food supplies.

Ever since the government has imposed the Restricted Movement Order, people have been crowding the markets and causing long lines to build up at the counters (these people really do not care about social distancing). Naturally, some of the less patient customers will give up and this is where the problem comes in.

According to a Facebook post, it is said that people have been leaving their trolleys full of supplies in front of the counters! As the staff are all very busy being bombarded with the mess that panic buyers have created, they did not have the chance to put all of the items back at their shelves.

In the mess created, the person says that they have seen fresh produce that has gone bad such as rotten chickens, wilted vegetables and frozen food that has already defrosted.

These actions taken by panic-buyers has resulted in a sizeable amount of perfectly fine food being rotten. In addition to that, it causes more workload to the staff who are already tired from helping panic-buyers.

So, please Malaysians! Do not panic buy and please practice social distancing. We hope that all Malaysians will abide by the Movement Control Order guidelines given by the government to help curb the spread of Covid-19. If you are unclear about the order then you can call the hotline @ 03-88882010.
