To deny our feelings is to deny our humanity. At work, however, we have to remain professional and avoid venting our anger and sadness, especially at inappropriate times.
A Malaysian newscaster did his best to hide his tears at work. In his viral TikTok post @thenoshlerr, Anas carefully read the news about the tragic murder of Farah Kartini, a student from UPSI who went missing after passing a rented car to a customer.
Anas delivered the news flawlessly but deep down, he was heartbroken. He defied all odds and did his best to remain calm and not get emotional when reading the news about Farah’s death, who was also his friend.
Only Anas and God knew how painful it was to read through the news, and he had never felt challenged to maintain his professionalism at work until the moment she had to verbally report the death of his friend.
“My professionalism was challenged. I had to control my emotion and expression, as well as the pain in my heart,” Anas said.
Farah, a polite person full of smiles
Anas also briefly described the late Farah as a kind and polite individual who was dedicated to everything she did.
“May God bless her soul.”
Earlier, Farah Kartini, a student from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris was reported missing after passing a rented car to a customer before her body was found in Hulu Selangor. A 26-year-old suspect, who is a PDRM officer has been detained and remanded at the time of writing (July 18).
