A 34-year-old man left his Toyota Altis parked at kilometre 2.2 of the Penang Bridge, heading from Prai towards Penang Island, before falling into the sea today (5 November) at about noon.
According to a report by China Press, the man, Zhan Weibin (transliteration), who is from Bukit Mertajam, had apparently left his personal identification, wallet, phone and more in his car on the bridge while leaving his slippers at the railing of the bridge.


Search and rescue (SAR) efforts are underway
The man has yet to be located despite efforts from the Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), which received a report at 12:15 PM.

Following the report, the Prai JBPM dispatched 8 team members, including the commander, to the incident site.
They have since launched a search and rescue operation on the sea surface, and have called in a team of divers to search the waters.
