A gruesome video went incredibly viral on social media last night as a man was horrifyingly stabbed and run over by a car, twice.
According to NST, the incident took place in Taman Pelangi in Johor Bahru at about 7.30pm. The victim and his wife arrived at a petrol station there in a Volkswagen to refill the car tyres.
That was when four assailants turned up in a white BMW with the registration plate, “WB 79L”.
“They tried to forcefully pull the victim into the car and there was a struggle between the victim and the assailants. The wife, in her 20s, ran to get help,” Johor police chief said.
It was learnt that the man was stabbed in his right chest a few times during the struggle and was left sitting on the ground.
The assailants then got back into their car and circled the petrol station before brutally knocking down the man with the vehicle. As if that wasn’t cruel enough, they then reversed the car and ran him over again in order to make sure he doesn’t make it.
The badly wounded man died at the scene while his wife escaped unhurt, the police said.
Members of the public and the petrol station staff were dumbfounded and too shaken to help the victim despite hearing his call for help. They could only record the incident on their smartphones from afar, fearing for their own safety.
Before fleeing the scene, the criminals also reportedly lit up a firecracker, which created a loud explosion to instil more fear in the public.
After the video went viral online, many speculated that the registration plate was fake.
Some netizens also shared pictures of the two men in handcuffs, saying that the suspects have been caught. However, the police denied this and urged social media users to refrain from spreading false news.
The case is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code and witnesses who have valuable information are urged to step forward to aid this investigation.
A manhunt has also been launched following the gruesome murder. We hope the police can intensify the investigation process and nab the heartless culprits who are responsible for this murder!
Here’s the video of the incident. PS: can be disturbing for some viewers.
[Update]: The police successfully traced the owner of the BMW to Shah Alam. It is possible that the registration number may have been duplicated and used by the actual suspects, as reported by MMO.
