M’sian Man Arrested in Thailand After Police Found an M4 Assault Rifle & Hundreds of Bullets in His Car

A Malaysian man was arrested by Thai authorities after he was discovered to have an M4 assault rifle as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition in a car he was driving in the Southern Thailand province of Songkhla, near the Thai-Malaysia border.

According to a report by Sinar Harian, the 46-year-old man was arrested at 5:35 AM on Sunday (August 31) during a roadblock carried out by members of the Sadao District Police Station as part of an operation to prevent drug smuggling and security threats.

Malaysian man arrested in Thailand for carrying firearm and hundreds of bullets

An inspection of the Kia vehicle with a Malaysian registration number found the following:

  • 2 M4 rifle barrels
  • 300 rounds of 5.56mm calibre ammunition
  • 7 magazines of 5.56mm ammunition
  • 100 rounds of 0.45mm calibre ammunition
  • 50 rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition

All the weapons and ammunition have been seized as case material for further investigation.
