A Malaysian man was arrested by Thai authorities after he was discovered to have an M4 assault rifle as well as hundreds of rounds of ammunition in a car he was driving in the Southern Thailand province of Songkhla, near the Thai-Malaysia border.
According to a report by Sinar Harian, the 46-year-old man was arrested at 5:35 AM on Sunday (August 31) during a roadblock carried out by members of the Sadao District Police Station as part of an operation to prevent drug smuggling and security threats.

An inspection of the Kia vehicle with a Malaysian registration number found the following:
- 2 M4 rifle barrels
- 300 rounds of 5.56mm calibre ammunition
- 7 magazines of 5.56mm ammunition
- 100 rounds of 0.45mm calibre ammunition
- 50 rounds of 9mm calibre ammunition

All the weapons and ammunition have been seized as case material for further investigation.
