Where do we even start with Ian Miles Cheong? For those who don’t know, Ipoh-based Ian Miles Cheong has been an infamous influencer who has been dubbed as the Malaysian who is obsessed with the West despite apparently never stepping foot into the US or Canada.
From alleged doxing incidents and apparently making rape and murder accusations, to his involvement in American political discourse and his affiliation with Rebel News (a right wing, pro-Israel Canadian news platform), let’s just say Cheong has made way, WAY more enemies online than he has friends.
Now, Ian Miles Cheong is trending on Twitter, a platform where he has just over 900,000 followers, due to (mostly Western) netizens gladly speculating that Cheong is apparently going to be or has allegedly already been publicly executed by the Malaysian government. We’d just like to add that news of the execution is FALSE.
Here is just a few of the postings in regards to this:
?BREAKING NEWS? Ian Miles Cheong is set to be publicly executed February 15. In a stunning turn of events, the Malaysian government has voted unanimously to use the Brazen Bull as the method of execution. pic.twitter.com/SH6Wb3AWuF

The Malaysian government has not and did not execute Ian Miles Cheong.
We’d like to once again clarify that posts in regards to his alleged execution are NOT TRUE, as Cheong himself confirmed in several Tweets.
I’m so deceased I was invited by the Democrats to cast a thousand votes for Joe Biden in a swing state.

If I’m dead maybe all the weird trans activist mutants will leave me alone in peace.

So, why is Ian Miles Cheong so hated?
Well, for Malaysians, it could very well be due to his affiliation with Rebel News and his alleged pro-Israel views. On top of that, he is seen as someone who meddles in American politics despite him not actually having a place in it.
He’s apparently garnered so much attention from his involvement in American political discourse that he’s presence in it has since been noted by the likes of Elon Musk and Fox News.
Though, for Westerners, it could also be because of his various alleged wrongdoings, from doxing to making rape and murder accusations. In fact, an American Twitter page, Censored Man, even listed down the numerous alleged misconduct on Cheong’s part, which you can check out here:

Despite the execution speculation being false, it is important to note that Malaysians can, in fact, be charged for sedition under the Seditions Act for expressing views that can cause disharmony among the people, which includes the topic of the Palestine-Israel conflict where Malaysia explicitly rejects the recognition of Israel.
