Getting your vehicle clamped is not a good way to start the day, but does lashing out at the authorities help?

In her recent IG post @lananodinmckienzie, Malaysian actress, Lana Nodin shared why she was NOT happy with the officers from the Ampang Jaya City Council (MPAJ) who clamped her car, and not the others who were also illegally parked in the area. Lana, who was headed to the bank on the day of the incident said the area – Taman Melawati is known for its traffic and its lack of parking spots.

“I was carrying a lot of cash and I parked right next to the bank. I knew for sure that my vehicle did not obstruct traffic,” Lana said in her post.

Lana did not get upset immediately. She approached the officers and explained her situation, to which one of the officers allegedly arrogantly told Lana,

“By right, we should clamp after 1 minute.”

That did not sit well with Lana, and seeing how her car was the only one to get clamped but not the others, fueled her rage even more when she sensed “favoritism” in the air.

“It’s no wonder why people don’t respect you guys”

In her post, Lana questioned the “fate” of other drivers who didn’t get their vehicles clamped despite parking illegally for hours. When she posed the question to the officers, there was silence.

“Is this how you carry out your duty? It’s no wonder why people don’t respect you guys. Please be fair in carrying out your duty!”

Lana continued to vent her dissatisfaction and said, “what’s your excuse, officers?!”

“But, you’re at fault”

Lana, however, did not pass the vibe check in the comments section, where most netizens thought there was no need for her to voice out about it. Many believed she should’ve just paid her fine and moved on.

“You didn’t obstruct traffic but it’s still against the law. It’s a gamble and if you don’t get fined, good. If you do, then it’s just not your luck, and the officers were merely doing their job.”

“I got clamped at the same place, and I just paid for it because it was my fault. Parking is easier to find now. I park near the clinic area and walk to the bank.”

“Why are you making things more complicated? When they don’t do their job, people make noise. Now, when they do, people are still making noise.”

“Good job, officers! You’re not being selective in carrying out your duties. Fine means fine, even if the person is a celebrity.”

Would you have questioned the officers about the other illegally parked cars in the area, or would you have just paid your fine and moved on?
