A man’s final wish to have his ex-wife arrange his funeral was denied by his father, who allegedly refused to allow his former daughter-in-law to even see the man’s body.
The tragedy reportedly occurred after the man took his own life, struggling with the stress of keeping up with the rapid advancements of artificial intelligence (AI) and mourning the recent loss of his mother.

Family allegedly denies man’s final wish
This heartbreaking story was revealed by philanthropist Kuan Chee Heng, affectionately known as Uncle Kentang. Taking to his Facebook page, he explained how the man’s ex-wife was prevented from claiming the body from the hospital because they were legally divorced.
The philanthropist said that after fearing the worst about the man’s mental health, he visited the house with the ex-wife and sought the authorities’ assistance to force entry, where they discovered the man’s body.
Uncle Kentang shared:
“He left a last note and wrote clearly that he wanted his ex-wife to do all the funeral rites. The note was placed next to his body.
“He expressed his love for his [ex] wife and explained to her why he chose to leave this world—because of a few failed projects and fighting hard to cope with the challenges of IT and AI advancement. I read the last note myself.”
Beside his body, the man had placed a large photograph of his mother, to whom he was reportedly very close. He also expressed a desire to “take care of her in heaven.”

However, the man’s father and siblings allegedly refused to allow the ex-wife to arrange the funeral and withheld information regarding the final rites.
“Any sins or bad feng shui will fall back on the family of the deceased because the deceased’s last wishes… were not granted nor fulfilled,” Uncle Kentang asserted.
He advised the ex-wife to remain calm, telling her:
“Your ex-husband knows you did your best… It is okay. Your ex-husband knows what is inside your heart and mind as he is a ‘Sin Yan’ (person of God) now.”

“Not granting your son’s last wish is the most unfortunate thing to do”
Uncle Kentang stated he will engage a Hokkien spiritual leader to assist in prayers for the man’s soul. He added that this provides closure for the ex-wife; even without the physical body, she can pray to the universe.
The philanthropist stated:
“For the family of the deceased, we thank you for taking care of the body. Not granting his last wish is your choice. Be prepared to face any unforeseen circumstances.
“The spirit might haunt you, and in case you are being haunted, you can ask us for help to engage with more Sifus (spiritual leaders) to help you. Not granting your son’s last wish is the most unfortunate thing to do.”
