Art is subjective and this art definitely sparks joy!
With a vast sea of talented people, getting recognised as an artist might be difficult for some but at the end of the day, there’s no replacement for pure talent and hard work. This man from Twitter may not be your typical artist but we can definitely say his art speaks to Malaysians out there!
Twitter user Adib Afdzal (@afdzal_adib) shared about his business on Shopee where he sells art for commission at the affordable price of just RM0.50 per piece. While his art is deliberately done to look “bad”, Malaysians have been responding well to his creations and business has been booming for Adib.
Drawings are all made using the mouse feature on Photoshop
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Adib said he just started his business five days ago and he was inspired to do so when he saw a seller on Shopee selling motivational quotes. At the time, he was editing a poster for his work using Photoshop. That’s when he thought, why not sell drawings on the platform as well?
All his drawings are made using the mouse feature in Photoshop!
While there wasn’t much reception for his drawings on the first few days, one of his creations went viral in a TikTok video which boosted his sales.
“I was shocked at first but then I was touched when I saw many people saying they were entertained after being stressed out in lockdown.”
Almost 200 units sold!
As of today, Adib has sold almost 200 units of his drawings and has garnered a profit of over RM100 just from his RM0.50 paintings. His customers also seem to be satisfied with their products and praised Adib for its quality.
If you’re looking for a side hustle this lockdown, awaken the sleeping artist inside you. Who cares that your art teacher said you’re a “talentless hack.” As with the case of Adib, we’ll repeat once again, ART IS SUBJECTIVE!
