There’s no life hack that goes unappreciated, especially as it works to make one’s life much easier and more convenient. As all kids return back to school for a new term, one Malaysian father found a way to make his household duties simpler in execution – and honestly, we co-sign his latest discovery.
Malaysian coach Dave Thomas recently shared a video to his TikTok page @coachdavethomas of a cleaning hack he devised in relation to cleaning his child’s school uniform. In the caption of his clip, Dave stated that since his child only has one piece of clothing to wash thus far, he created what he describes to be a DIY washing machine.
Using a common red lid container filled with detergent, Dave placed his kid’s white shirt in the container before closing the vessel tightly. Showing viewers just how it’s done, Dave then tilted it horizontally and began swishing its contents left to right and then in a circular motion – creating quite literally, his own washing machine.
After a few swirls, Dave pulled the garment out before rinsing it in his sink. Giving the item a sniff, Dave was satisfied with the cleanliness of the shirt by the end of the video.
In a brief conversation with WORLD OF BUZZ, Dave revealed that since he needed to clean only one shirt, he did not see the need of putting it in the washing machine. However, he soon came up with his own idea on how to get the job done successfully yet swiftly.
“It was something that happened in the moment. I realised that the washing machine was only spinning, so if I could spin the clothes like that, perhaps I could get the job done quickly and effectively. It was fast and easy, as well as economical!” said Dave to WORLD OF BUZZ.
Garnering a positive response online, many people were impressed by Coach Dave’s neat yet practical “washing machine”. Some couldn’t help but throw out jests in relation to the matter, saying that this is the true definition of a “hand wash”.
“Oh this is the real manual way brother. If the dirt is stubborn you’d have to double the amount of hand strength for this!” jokingly added another user.
Nevertheless, others also mentioned that they would use this tactic when needing to do the laundry for one or two items in the future.
“My goodness, I thought it was just me who does this, but there are other people who do it as well! Busted for sure,” light-heartedly commented one user.

In his closing thoughts, Dave said to WORLD OF BUZZ that he will likely continue using this method when cleaning small amounts of clothing due to its clear convenience. We can’t hide it, we may start using this technique too!
