If you buy something in bulk online, chances are you’ll have to pay a certain amount of deposit. Well, if you’re a serious buyer, that shouldn’t be an issue, right?
On a Facebook post by D Kaseh Kaseh, a dessert seller based in Muar, Johor recently shared her experience of almost hitting a big sale in her business, if and only if her potential customer did not go missing in action. The customer contacted Kaseh via WhatsApp and ordered a whopping 4,500 pieces of frozen crombolonis, and the customer was apparently willing to pick them up personally from her shop.
“A 50% deposit is required for all orders as per company policy. This is to be safe.”
It’s a blue tick for the deposit
It would’ve been a massive heartache if Kaseh had prepared ALL those frozen crombolonis only for the customer to disappear into thin air. As a seasoned businesswoman, Kaseh took the risks into account and she anticipated all possibilities.
She prepared the invoice and asked for a deposit from the customer.
No response…
Kaseh tried again the next day, but still no response.
“When I was blue ticked twice, I assumed the customer was no longer interested in buying my products.”
In her post, Kaseh insisted that deposits are required in all transactions, regardless of who the customer is. WORLD OF BUZZ has reached out to Kaseh for more comments but has yet to get a response.
Netizens were not shocked to see such an incident happen, and many of them praised Kaseh for being strict about securing the deposit.
“No deposit is equivalent to letting your neck be slaughtered.”
“If there is no deposit, always assume the customer is not interested.”
“Never get excited for this kind of big order. Always ask for a deposit first. Thank you for highlighting this. Sometimes we overlook this because we’re too excited when receiving big orders.”
“The bigger the order, the more deposit we have to collect. I’ll take up to 70% of deposits if it’s a big order.”
To all the online business runners out there, do you collect deposits for all orders just to be safe? Have you met any potential customers who went missing even before the deposit was paid?
