Our Malaysian athletes are making our country proud while competing on international stages. With our national squash player, Sivasangari Subramaniam, recently beating a world champion, we can’t wait to see how far our athletes can go.

Now, it’s time for another Malaysian team to make us proud in the face of a global competition.

The Jabatan Penerangan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (JaPen WPKL) took to their Twitter page to share that the Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia – CHARM cheerleading squad will be representing Malaysia in the Cheerleading Worlds 2024 tournament that will take place in Orlando, Florida, United States.

“The Cheerleading Association and Register of Malaysia (CHARM) has received an allocation of RM80,000 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) to participate in the 2024 World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, United Stated.”

The CHARM squad, which is made up of 12 to 15-year-old cheerleaders, got to meet with Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh, before they make their way for the tournament next week.

“The amount includes RM50,000 approved through the National Sports Trust Fund (KWSAN), while another RM30,000 is from the Youth and Sports Minister, Hannah Yeoh’s allocation as support for their activities,”

“Hannah was present at the Sri Kuala Lumpur school yesterday (April 17) to meet the CHARM squad consisting of 20 athletes aged 12 to 15-years-old, and 2 coaches and a team manager, before they leave for Orlando. The World Cheerleading Championship will take place from April 24 to April 29, involving 10,000 athletes from 80 countries,” they added.
