To have savings is undeniably important, but how much is really sufficient?
For this Malaysian woman, having 5 figures in your savings before hitting 30-years-old is certainly not enough. Recently, Facebook page MCN 亚娱 shared an anonymous conversation between a couple who may have hit an end in their relationship. The woman asked for a breakup which prompted the boyfriend to ask for the reasons.
“I’m insecured. You’re 27-years-old and only have a saving of RM50,000. I don’t think things can work out,” the woman revealed.
She also said that the breakup was already planned before CNY but in order to avoid the relatives from asking further, she decided to do so after the festive season.
After CNY? What do you think I am?
Overwhelmed by sadness, confusion and frustration, the man asked if she has ever considered his feelings by planning and setting a timeline to end the relationship, to which she replied, she indeed did.
“Yes. I should have asked you the question, what do you think I am? You only earn RM4-5k per month and my friends go to Haidilao Restaurant every day. You bring me there only once a month.”
She feels that she deserves a better life, hence the breakup. The man continued by asking if the relationship has been about money all along and asked her how much is considered sufficient.
“I don’t know, but RM50k is just too little. It’s like you can finish the amount in a month. I can’t see the life that I want with you. I’m sorry.”
Haidilao all day err day?
The post has garnered more than 10,000 shares on Facebook at the time of writing. Netizens also have a lot to say, especially about the woman’s perceptions towards money.
“Haidilao every day? Won’t your body temperature rise?”
“Have you ever thought that he never complained anything about you before you actually pinpoint his flaws? If you’re so great, treat yourself Haidilao. Don’t wait for your boyfriend.”
“What have you contributed that you think you deserve a better life?”
“Your value is determined by Haidilao.”
Do you think a saving of RM50k at the age of 27 is not enough especially if you’re in a relationship?
