Over the years, we’ve seen many foreign content creators spread positivity and good things about Malaysia, but not many left their homeland to reside in our country. Rhys William is among the few who fell in love with Malaysia, and at the time of writing, he has been staying here for 10 years.
To those who are not aware, Rhys has been creating food content for about 6 years now in the segment known as “Mat Salleh Cari Makan”, which you can watch on YouTube. Just recently, on his Facebook page, Rhys revealed that he is finally going back to the UK after 4 years of being away from his homeland.
In his post, Rhys insinuated that he left in his heart in Malaysia.
“Honestly, it took me awhile to get used to the UK again, especially the weather. It’s cold, despite the sunny weather!”
Perjalanan jauh tak ku rasa..Kerna hati ku melonjak sama.. ?Alhamdulillah setelah 4 tahun tak balik kampung,…

He also said that since 2019, a lot of has changed in the UK, and he can’t wait to play tourist in his homeland. In another post, he added that he has forgotten how pricy things can be in England.
“Haven’t returned home in a long time, I forgot how expensive things can be here.”
“Standby Nasi Lemak”
On March 7, Rhys once again posted on his Facebook and told his followers that he was ready to come back to Malaysia – a place he has identified as his 1st home.
Rhys did not deny that he is already missing his homeland, but he is excited to be back in Malaysia.
“It felt good to be back in the UK for a bit, but my heart remains in Malaysia.”
You can see how excited Rhys is when he talks about coming back here, as he already has something in mind even before landing in Malaysia.
“Standby Nasi Lemak. I’m coming home.”
Bagai sirih pulang ke gagang..Walaupun memang rindu UK dan rasa seronok balik UK sekejap, hati saya tetap di Malaysia….

We’re truly glad to see the perspective of a foreigner who’s proud to call Malaysia home. To those who often travel abroad, what reminds you of home? Is it our food, your family, or simply the place here?
