Yesterday, it was reported that a Malaysian man was arrested by Thai authorities after he was found with an M4 assault rifle and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in a car he was driving in the Southern Thailand province of Songkhla, near the Thai-Malaysia border.
Now, it has been revealed that the suspect was allegedly attempting to smuggle the gun from Malaysia. And, this may not have been the first time he’s conducted such activities.

A man arrested in Thailand said that he was hired to smuggle firearms between Malaysia and Thailand
According to a report by Khaosod, during the investigation into this incident, the suspect confessed that he was hired by a Malaysian in Penang to smuggle firearms for a fee of RM10,000.
The Thai police explained that, following an expanded investigation, this incident may involve a transnational arms trafficking operation.
Based on the evidence, it appears that the operation has been carried out multiple times, which is consistent with the suspect’s previous border-crossing history, which includes 2 previous crossings between Thailand and Malaysia.
