As we continue our fight against the Covid-19 virus, more anti-vaxxers have continued to resist and spread propaganda in regards to the vaccines.
Additionally, they have also resolved into bribing officials and buying fake vaccination certificates from actual doctors.
Similarly, a man in Sabah has been arrested after having been suspected of soliciting bribes of over RM2,000 from the public for the purpose of getting the Covid-19 Vaccination Digital Certificate in the MySejahtera app last October.
According to sources, the 31-year-old man was also believed to have given part of the bribe money to the volunteers at the vaccination centre as a reward for registering names of unvaccinated individuals to get the digital certificate.
The volunteers would then register the names of the individuals so that they could obtain the digital certificate in the app but without taking the vaccination jab.
The suspect was detained at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) office yesterday (11 January) at 1:30pm as part of the agency’s clampdown on the syndicate’s activities in the state capital.
Sabah MACC director Datuk S Karunanithy confirmed the detention, and said that further investigations would be done under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
It is unclear whether the arrest is linked to the ongoing investigations on unvaccinated umrah returnees in Peninsular Malaysia.
