When we talk about anime or animation series, we’ll think of Japan as that is one of the things that it is known for.
Now, with how well-known Japan is for their anime, it’s certainly a very big thing when a foreign animation series, especially a Malaysian one at that, to be broadcasted in the East Asian country.
On 12 September, Harian Metro reported that the Malaysian animation series, Mechamato, will be broadcast for the first time in Japan on 6 October.
Prior to this, Mechamato won the Anime Fan Award at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2023.
Monsta’s marketing director, Faiz Zainal Aabidin has said that this is a very big milestone for them and they’re very happy that Mechamato was acknowledged in Japan.
“It opens up a new avenue for Monsta. The Japanese market is hard to enter with international animation and it’s tougher from a South-East Asian country like Malaysia.”
“One of the criteria for broadcasting international programs on Japanese TV is that the series need to have their own culture and tradition so that they can spread knowledge to the audience,” he added.
Other than that, the series will also be available on online applications such as Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime, Hulu, dAnimeStore, J:Com, FOD and on the Bandai Channel!
Tokyo MX Mall will also be selling FGURA Mechamato toys through mail orders.
This is certainly really great news and we hope that it serves as inspiration for other animation companies in our country as well!
