One thing about us Malaysians is that we love it whenever we’re ranked on a list.

Well, recently, the US News and World Report has released their list of The Best Countries in the World for 2023. Out of 85 countries, Malaysia managed to snag the 38th spot on the list!

The way the countries are evaluated is based on a set of 73 country attributes which are grouped into 10 categories: Adventure, Agility, Cultural Influence, Entrepreneurship, Heritage, Movers, Open for Business, Power, Quality of Life and Social Purpose.

Malaysia Rank List 2

So in Malaysia’s case, the category we ranked the highest was the Open for Business quality where we are at 12th place. Then, we were 31st in 3 categories, Movers, Quality of Life and Adventure.

The category where we scored the lowest is the Social Purpose category where we stand at 55th place.

The Top 5 are Switzerland, Canada, Sweden, Australia, United States of America and the following are Japan, Germany, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. A little closer to home, Singapore is comfortably situated in the 16th place.

Malaysia Rank List 1

More than 17,000 people from across the globe were presented with the survey from 17 March to 12 June asking them if they associated certain attributes with a nation.

This is certainly a big list with lots of attributes and it does give us some perspective on the things that we should be working on so that we can all collectively improve.
