The motorcyclist who robbed a woman in a carpark has been arrested after members of the public contacted the police and sent CCTV footage of the incident that took place at 8.20am on 19 January at Eco Sanctuary, Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor.
According to Harian Metro, the victim is a 51-year-old daycare teacher who suffered injuries including swelling of the head and bruises on her limbs, and was taken to the hospital for further examination and treatment.
The suspect is a 26-year-old man who was arrested in Kampung Sijangkang at 4pm after the police acted on information received from the public and managed to track down the suspect.
Kuala Langat District Police Chief, Superintendent Azizan Tukiman said during the arrest, the police only found part of the victim’s belongings that were snatched as the victim’s handbag was missing.
He added that the the victim was approached by the suspect armed with a machete in a parking lot not far from her workplace at a nursey.
“The victim fell before the suspect snatched a handbag containing personal documents and cash, and at the time of the incident, the woman had just finished parking her car in the parking lot,” he said.
“The remand order will be applied for in court tomorrow and the case is being investigated according to Section 392/397 of the Penal Code.”
