Babies are precious little bundles of joy and often, we would kiss and hug them because they are just so darn adorable. Those fat little cheeks are just too cute! However, a recent post on Facebook went viral and after reading it, you may just think twice about kissing a baby or letting anyone else kiss your baby.

A mother living in Taiwan wrote a status about what happened to her baby and it garnered a lot of attention. In the post, she warned about the dangers of adults kissing a baby’s face or even sharing cutlery with a baby as her little one suffered an infection that caused her baby to break out in a horrible rash.Â
She wrote, “My baby’s rash started with one small red dot near his mouth and the next day, there were a few more that appeared. He started to develop a slight cold and so I brought him to the doctor for a check-up. The doctor examined him and thought that it might just be some infection so he prescribed normal medicine for my baby.”

“However, the rash did not get better; there were more and more spots that began to appear. The doctor said that it may be a bacteria or virus that is causing the rashes and gave me some ointment and antibiotics for my baby. My baby still did not get better. Instead, the condition worsened and I was so worried.”
The worried mother went to ask a few trusted doctors about the issue but her baby’s rash continued to deteriorate. She had to admit her baby into the hospital and the doctor even had to take his blood sample to determine the cause of the rash. As they could not confirm whether it was caused by bacteria or virus, the doctor had no choice but to inject both types of medicine into the baby. Poor little baby!

She said,”Babies have tiny veins and the injection really made my baby suffer; I was so sad to see him suffering. Finally, the lab results came back and my baby was diagnosed with herpes simplex. The doctor administered the medicine and after one week in the hospital, at last I could bring my son home.”
Apparently, the mother concluded that her baby was infected with the virus as a result of contact with adults who may have been carrying it. She said that sometimes these viruses may not have any detrimental effects (or symptoms) on adults but as babies have weaker immune systems, it would be really bad for them.Â
Hence, she warns other parents to be careful and make sure not to simply kiss babies’ faces as this affectionate gesture could potentially spread viruses to babies.
