MITI: All Economic Sectors In Klang Allowed To Resume Operations Despite CMCO

During a virtual press conference today, MITI announced that all economic sectors in Klang can continue operations as per usual despite being under a CMCO.

While strict SOPs still need to be adhered to, an official statement by MITI revealed that the National Security Council (MKN) has given the green light for all economic sectors in Klang to proceed with operations and business as usual as long as they follow the SOPs put into place.

“Authorities are instructed to increase enforcement of SOP compliance to ensure the safety of workers and citizens in Klang,” read the statement.

“The government is aware that businesses and industries, including SMEs, have invested into preparing facilities, safety measures and additional health protocols at their work premises since the government allowed sectors to resume operation in May 2020.”

However, the statement stressed that the failure of companies to comply with the SOPs will result in an immediate shutdown, and owners will have to face consequences of the law accordingly.

The statement added that the decision was made while taking into consideration the safety of the rakyat while guaranteeing the resumption of work and economic recovery efforts as well as ensuring that there is no disruption of supply chain processes like logistics, transportation and so on.

“To ensure the effectiveness and capability of the current economic recovery phase, the government insists that it will not compromise its efforts to ensure the safety and health of its people.”
