It’s always inspiring to see local names achieving success overseas, including performers who made it in the entertainment industry. Last year, we had local comedian, Ronny Chieng appearing in Marvel’s Shang Chi, and this time, another Malaysian has found yet another role in Hollywood.
Datuk Michelle Yeoh has officially joined the cast of the seventh instalment of the Transformer movie series, known as Transformers: Rise of The Beasts.
The latest casting announcement was shared by the mastermind of the film himself – Steven Caple Jr. via his Instagram post, where actor Pete Davidson and Michelle herself were seen in action in the recording booth.
Michelle is reportedly providing her voice for the role of Airazor, the robot tribe Maximals in Rise of The Beasts.
To those of you who are fans of both Michelle Yeoh and the Hollywood industry, you’ll definitely be aware that this is not her first rodeo. Michelle is last seen in her latest Hollywood time-travel flick – Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. She also had a minor role in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
She found her fame in Hollywood back in the 90s after playing the role of Wai Lin in the spy film Tomorrow Never Dies.
She certainly has a lot of credits under her belt, and it looks like Michelle has a busy schedule ahead as she is also expected to appear in Avatar 2, which is slated to release this December, and she is also set to appear in the film’s sequels, Avatar 3 and 4.
As for Rise of The Beasts, the film is scheduled for a release on June 2023, and it will centre around Optimus Prime in 1994 in New York City. According to Collider, Rise of The Beasts will be the 1st instalment in a planned trilogy.
