This has probably happened to us before (but not as severely) when squat toilets were still found in every household.

On Wednesday (3rd June), a woman slipped and fell into a squat toilet and is forced to endure pain for an hour before the BOMBA can finally save her.

The woman in her fifties lives in a home for mental patients. It is said that she wanted to go to the toilet to do her business when suddenly, she slipped. Both her feet went through the hole on the squat toilet which has been broken for a few days.

As she was trapped, she panicked and struggled even more which caused her to get deeper and deeper into the hole. When the home management found her chest-deep in the toilet hole, they quickly called the BOMBA to rescue her.

The Bukit Katil Bomba Chief said that they received the call at about 8.53pm and they dispatched seven personnel to help the poor lady.

“Our personnel used a paratech and a rambar to break the toilet hole before extracting the victim.”

The victim was then brought to the Melaka Hospital. Through the ordeal, she has sustained a few light injuries.

Oh dear, we certainly hope that she gets better soon. To those who still have squat toilets, maybe it’s high time to change it to sitting ones!
