Here’s Malaysia’s newest women empowerment ambassador, Shweta Sekhon, and she aspires to promote girl power at the 68th Miss Universe Pageant.
22-year-old Shwetajeet Kaur or better known as Shweta Sekhon will be representing Malaysia at the 68th Miss Universe Pageant when she was crowned Miss Universe Malaysia of 2019 at the Miss Universe Malaysia event held at the Majestic Hotel.
Taking to Instagram, Shweta wrote “A dream come true. Wear the crown. Be the crown. You are the crown!”
Succeeding Miss Universe Malaysia 2018 Jane Teoh, Shweta was presented with the crown and sash, bettering 1st runner-up Frost Yaw Hui Jing, 2nd runner-up Tessminderjit Kaur and 3rd runner-up Lee Su Hsien.
Nominated as Malaysia’s Miss Universe 2019 as the world celebrates International Women’s Day, Shweta plans to champion the issue of women’s empowerment and self-confidence.
In her press conference at the Majestic Hotel, she said “There’s a lot of women out there who aren’t very confident about themselves. So I want to be an icon and tell them to just embrace yourselves.”
“Be confident of who you are.”
The 68th edition of Miss Universe 2019 will be held in South Korea, and Malaysians will, of course, be banking on Shweta.
Go Shweta! Make us proud!
