In conjunction with the first day of Hari Raya, PDRM is mounting 13 roadblocks around Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya to ensure that the public is abiding by the inter-district and interstate travel ban amidst Raya festivities.
“Almost 400 police officers will be on duty,” said Kuala Lumpur police chief, Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim in a statement reported by BERNAMA.
Among the confirmed locations in which the roadblocks will be mounted are:
- Jalan Persekutuan
- Sungai Besi Highway
- Jalan Duta Toll Plaza
- Jalan Ampang (near RISDA Building)
The KL police chief added that a total of 1,472 vehicles have been ordered to turn back after they tried to enter the capital since the implementation of the MCO in Selangor on Thursday. These civilians did not have permission from the police to proceed with interstate travel.
Since the MCO 3.0 was enforced, 313 compounds have been issued to individuals who violated the SOPs, including those who tried to travel inter-district, said Selangor police chief, Datuk Arjunaidi Mohamed. He emphasised that roadblocks cannot be avoided as the police need to inspect the vehicles one by one to ensure no one is violating the SOPs.
This list joins the existing roadblock locations that were reportedly mounted on 8 May including:
- Jalan Sentul Pasar (in front of Kepong police station)
- Jalan Klang Lama
- Jalan 2/27A Wangsa Melawati
- Jalan 1/91 Taman Shamelin Perkasa
- Bukit Jalil Highway
- Both sides of Federal Highway
- Kuala Lumpur-bound side of Sungai Besi toll plaza
A day after the MCO was announced, road users were reportedly trapped for three to four hours at a roadblock in Sungai Besi leading to the city’s capital. A number of vehicles reportedly faced breakdowns and even ran out of fuel.
