Three motorcyclists were killed and 12 others injured in a major crash involving 15 motorcycles, a lorry, and a car at KM262 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) around 3 AM on Thursday (July 24).
The accident happened when three motorcycles at the front collided, triggering a chain reaction that caused 12 other bikes to crash and fall onto the road.

MARA has provided aid to the families of the deceased
Following the tragic accident, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) has assured that the welfare and needs of all the students involved will be properly looked after, including emotional and psychosocial support for the students’ families and friends.
According to Sinar Harian, MARA said the accident involved students from Kolej Poly-Tech MARA (KPTM) Bangi and one from the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI), and that a death benefit of RM1,500 had been provided to the families of each deceased student through KPTM’s management.
In addition, insurance claims for accidental death and injury of up to RM38,000 per student are currently being processed, subject to the terms and conditions set by the insurance provider.
MARA further explained that it had no role in organising the convoy, and the ride was casually planned by the students themselves through a WhatsApp group.

MARA urged the public to allow space for a proper investigation
MARA also shared that the post-mortems for the three KPTM students have been completed, and their bodies have been sent to their respective hometowns for burial in Sepang, Alor Gajah, and Gombak.
Meanwhile, three other students were unharmed, while the GMI student suffered minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Tuanku Jaâafar in Seremban.
They also called on the public to give space to the authorities to conduct a proper and thorough investigation.
“MARA will keep working closely with the schools and relevant agencies to make sure any follow-up actions are handled responsibly, openly, and with care.”
